Tour of K-Tek, Top Boom Pole Maker

During my recent visit to the K-Tek headquarters in Carlsbad, CA, I intended to have my new K-Tek KC108 Essential Boom Pole custom modified to incorporate an internal cable, a specific feature that would streamline my work in the field. However, the visit unexpectedly transformed into a memorable experience beyond my initial purpose. As I met with Tino, the managing director who also holds the title of head of sales and is married to the company's CEO, I found myself immersed in the inner workings of K-Tek's operations. The chance encounter provided me with insights into the company's core values and dedication to innovation, making my visit far more enriching and insightful than I had anticipated.

Tino, the skilled 'chef' at K-Tek, truly outdid himself by generously gifting me with an array of incredibly practical gear. Among the standout items are their custom XLR right angle connectors, a game-changer that I'll be incorporating inside my audio bag to maximize space and streamline port access. Additionally, the K-Tek accessory holder has proven to be a versatile must-have, enabling me to effortlessly attach various small devices to my pole. The double mic carrying case has also revolutionized my camera kit organization, significantly reducing the amount of space needed. Not to mention, the two cable holders have effortlessly replaced my bulky velcro ones, making cable management a breeze. Tino's thoughtful selection of gear has undeniably elevated my workflow and efficiency, leaving me grateful for his expertise and generosity. He even thew in a secret gift I can’t yet talk about! (Will save it for an upcoming post).

A better shot of Tino and I!

Tino enthusiastically walked me through the intricate process of crafting their custom XLR connectors, utilizing the high-quality Neutrik 'guts' that are integral to their design. With a keen eye for detail, Tino explained the precision involved in assembling each component, ensuring optimal performance and durability for professionals in the field. From soldering connections to insulating with precision, every step was meticulously executed to guarantee a flawless end product. Tino's passion for their craft shone through as they shared the behind-the-scenes work that goes into producing top-notch XLR connectors that meet the demands of discerning customers.

At K-Tek, an innovative approach to maintaining optimal conditions in their manufacturing station involves the use of a sauna. By repurposing this heat and humidity-controlled space, K-Tek effectively manages the temperature and humidity levels critical for their manufacturing processes. The sauna's ability to create a controlled environment not only ensures product quality but also enhances the efficiency of operations at their plant. This unconventional use of a sauna demonstrates K-Tek's commitment to leveraging creative solutions to meet their manufacturing needs while prioritizing precision and excellence in their production practices.
